When inspecting an artefact made of obsidian, volcanic glass, it reminded me of chocolate. Then creativity struck! I became compelled to make replicas of lithics made out of chocolate.
I procured supplies to make food-safe silicone molds of lithics from an experimental collection made of obsidian. I used melting chocolate to fill the molds and let the chocolate set for a couple hours. I was able to successfully make a variety of Choco-lithics!
Not only was making Choco-lithics relatively easy and fun, but it is also important to note that the form of the original lithics are very well preserved in their chocolate replicas. This was intentional by design to demonstrate technological features of the lithics for aesthetic and educational appeal.
